With more than 20 years of experience across EMS, hospital care, home care, and senior advocacy, Kacia Shelby is passionate about helping families navigate one of life’s most challenging seasons with confidence, compassion, and hope. As Community Liaison for Riverside Home Care’s Boulder office, she builds meaningful relationships throughout the community, connects families with valuable resources, and serves as a trusted guide as they explore home care options.

Kacia’s journey into healthcare began with a deeply personal experience. Watching her grandfather live with Alzheimer’s disease and seeing the impact it had on her family inspired her lifelong commitment to serving older adults and their loved ones. The compassion of his home healthcare professional, along with the support her family received through the Alzheimer’s Association, became a turning point in her life. That experience ignited a passion for helping families feel supported, informed, and never alone during difficult times.

Throughout her career, Kacia has served in a variety of healthcare roles, including emergency medical services, hospital care, home care, and as a support group leader for the Alzheimer’s Association in Arizona. Each experience has strengthened her dedication to advocating for seniors while helping families find the care, education, and resources they need.

For Kacia, Riverside’s promise of “Compassionate Care, in the Home of Your Choice” means honoring every individual’s right to live where they feel most comfortable while being treated with dignity, kindness, and respect. She believes everyone deserves to remain in the place they call home, surrounded by people who genuinely care.

Kacia finds her greatest fulfillment in being a trusted resource for families. She hopes every person she meets feels heard, respected, and confident that they have someone walking beside them through the caregiving journey. Building lasting relationships and earning the trust of families continues to be one of the most rewarding parts of her career.

Outside of work, family is at the center of Kacia’s life. She enjoys spending time with her nieces, antiquing with her boyfriend Bryan, and visiting family in Oklahoma. A self-described old soul, Kacia jokes that she was born in the wrong generation, preferring the simplicity, timeless values, and slower pace of earlier days over today’s fast-moving world.

Kacia approaches every relationship with one guiding principle: respect. She believes that while aging may change what a person is able to do, it should never diminish their dignity, independence, or ability to make their own choices. That belief guides every conversation, every connection, and every family she has the privilege to serve.
